Classic South Night Cake Recipe
There are many variations on the theme of the cake, but this recipe is the most successful and therefore quite common.
It will not take a lot of time to prepare the classic version, it is economically viable and will worthily take a place in your prescription guide, and then on your desk.
Cooking a cake always begins with the selection of the necessary ingredients.
You will need:
- 300 g of wheat flour;
- 300 g butter;
- 200 g of granulated sugar;
- 200 ml of milk;
- 10 g of baking powder;
- 2 eggs;
- 5 tbsp. l cocoa;
- 150 g of condensed milk;
- 100 g of chocolate.
Stages of execution:
- We begin the culinary process by combining dry components: flour (refined and saturated with oxygen due to sifting) with baking powder and cocoa powder. Their norm should correspond to the recipe.
- Then in a separate container you need to beat soft butter (150 g) with sugar (200 g), to which two eggs are gradually introduced one at a time. The resulting mixture should be as uniform as possible.
- After combining the dry and wet mixtures, milk should be added last. Pour it a little, thereby regulating the correct consistency of the dough - it should not be very thick so that it easily poured into the mold.
- After pouring the dough into a pre-prepared form (it must be greased with any oil available in the household), send it to the oven, heated to 180 °. The dough should be baked until cooked, on average it is 20-30 minutes.
- The finished cake is necessarily cooled and only then cut with a sharp large knife along the middle of the crumb to get two cakes, one of which is greased with cream.
Cooking cream
- For cream, beat in equal proportions (150 g each) butter and condensed milk. You can also add a little lemon juice.
- Now connect the cake. On the bottom layer of cake anointed with cream, you can lay the second one, gently pressing it.
- The final touch in the preparation will be the icing.
- It is prepared in an elementary way: the rest of the butter needs to be combined with chocolate, melting the mixture over steam.
- Until the frosting cools, it must be applied evenly on the cake.
- The finished product is sent to the refrigerator for at least an hour and only then it can be served to the table.
Useful advice
Some housewives instead of baking powder add soda to the dough, and milk is acidified with vinegar. But not everyone loves the smell of soda in baking, and in such cases, the baking powder does its job.
Dessert with Prunes
To improve and diversify “Southern Night” at home, you need to use the goodies that you have at hand, such as nuts, raisins, marmalade, fresh berries, raspberries, currants, as well as cherries, apricots, plums, and so on.
The Southern Night cake with prunes turns out to be especially tasty, for it you will need:
- flour - 300 g;
- butter - 250 g;
- sugar - 200 g;
- eggs - 2 pcs.;
- baking powder - 10 g or soda - half a teaspoon;
- vinegar - 1 tsp;
- milk - 200-240 g;
- cocoa - 80 g;
- prunes - 150 g;
- one bar of chocolate (100 g).
The cream can be used from a classic recipe or any other (custard, for example).
Cooking the cake:
- Beat butter with sugar and eggs (introducing them alternately).
- Mix flour and cocoa with baking powder.
- In the absence of baking powder, it can be replaced with soda, extinguished with vinegar.
- Combining both mixtures and mixing well, we get a smooth dough of a creamy consistency, which we pour into the prepared baking tray (greased with oil or grease).
- We bake the cake in a hot oven (temperature should not be lower than 180 °) until ready, in time it will take 20-25 minutes.
- As in the previous recipe, cut the resulting biscuit in half, grease the lower part with your favorite cream, spread the crushed prunes evenly on top of it and cover it with the upper part.
- You can decorate the cake with melted chocolate glaze or cream, which can be strewn with fruit, nuts or grated chocolate. It is appropriate to supplement the cake with halves of prunes and large chocolate chips. This dessert option will decorate even the most festive table.
Unusual dessert option
We offer another original version of the South Night cake. Its unusualness is that it is cooked without eggs (which is suitable even for allergy sufferers), and the butter is replaced with vegetable oil. It also uses instant coffee. This dessert has an excellent chocolate-vanilla flavor and delicate texture.
Components required for the cake:
- one and a half glasses of pure flour;
- good quality cocoa - three full (possibly with a slide) tablespoons;
- half a tablespoon of soda;
- salt (on the tip of a knife);
- a glass of sugar;
- a quarter cup of vegetable oil;
- incomplete glass of water;
- vanilla extract (incomplete teaspoon);
- half a dessert spoon of wine vinegar;
- a teaspoon of fine ground coffee.
Cooking method:
- We set the oven in advance for heating (180 °).
- Prepare the form.
- Combine the flour, soda, cocoa, coffee and salt indicated in the recipe.
- Separately, combine and mix the water, sugar, vinegar, oil and vanilla extract with a blender.
- Then both mixtures are mixed until smooth.
- The dough is poured into a mold and put on baking, it will take 30-38 minutes, but it is better to check it once again for readiness.
- We cut the baked and cooled biscuit in the usual way, apply the cream and decorate the upper part with our favorite delicacies.
Cake with rich chocolate flavor is ready!
South Night Cake Cookies
For those who are afraid not to cope with baking a cake, or simply do not want to turn on the oven on hot summer days, there is a special recipe for everyone's favorite dessert. A cookie cake is fast, inexpensive, and delicious.
You will need such products:
- cookies - 200-250 g;
- three bars of chocolate (black or milk);
- butter - 150 g;
- vanilla sugar - 10 g;
- high fat cream - 200-230 g.
Cooking it is very simple:
- Cookies are poured into a convenient container and crumble, then 2/3 of melted chocolate is poured and mixed well.
- This mixture is laid out in a mold (covered with oily parchment) and sent for cooling to a refrigerator.
- After a couple of hours, it will be possible to get it and pour it with a well-whipped mixture of butter and cream with vanilla.
- After the next two-hour cooling, the cake is removed, laid out on a plate prepared for serving, coated with melted chocolate (the remaining tile), if desired, decorated with fruit or slices of marmalade and that's it, the cake is ready!
Do not be afraid to experiment with products, and even dilute proven classic recipes with your own dishes, such as white chocolate, fruit cream, wild berries, candied fruit or mint. This will be the author's Southern Night.
