Classic puff pastry cake with condensed milk

"Log", prepared according to the classic recipe, tastes like Napoleon. Make it from puff pastry - homemade or purchased in a store. If the dough was stored in the freezer, it is thawed in advance.

The following ingredients are prepared for the cake:

  • 450 g of puff pastry (preferably yeast-free);
  • 300 g of condensed milk;
  • 300 g butter.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Roll out the dough so that a rectangle with a thickness of not more than 5 mm is obtained.
  2. Strips of a width of about 1.5 cm are cut from it.
  3. The baking sheet is covered with baking paper, the strips are placed at a small distance from each other and sent to the oven (200-220 ° C). After 10-15 minutes the puff pastry sticks will be ready.
  4. The pan is removed from the oven to allow the strips to cool.
  5. Go to the preparation of the cream. Beat butter, add condensed milk to it and again everything is well mixed until a homogeneous consistency.
  6. On a table in 2 layers lay a cling film. A small layer of cream is distributed over it so that several puff sticks fit on it. A small clearance should remain between the sticks.
  7. The cream is again laid out on the strips. And so a few more layers are formed.
  8. The result should be a cake in the form of logs, completely covered with cream on all sides.
  9. It is tightly wrapped in a film and placed in the refrigerator for 10-12 hours.

The easiest way to decorate the cake: chop a few puff sticks and sprinkle with this crumb dessert after it is removed from the refrigerator.

You can decorate a sweet dish in a more original way:

A simplified cookie recipe

If you don’t want to bake, you can simplify the task by making a “Log” cake from cookies according to an easy recipe.

For preparation are required:

  • 400 g of ordinary shortbread cookies ("Sugar", "Strawberry", "Anniversary");
  • 100 g butter;
  • 1 can of condensed milk;
  • 2 tbsp. l cocoa powder;
  • 100 g of walnuts.

To decorate:

  • 1 egg white
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar (in the absence of the ingredient, sugar is taken).

  • 100 g of flour;

  • a pinch of salt;

For the layer and decoration you need:

  • 200 g of powdered sugar;
  • 150 g of soft butter;
  • 100 g of dark chocolate.

First, prepare the dough:

  1. Squirrels are separated from the yolks.
  2. Sugar is poured into the container with the yolks, this mixture is whipped with a mixer. The mass should lighten and become magnificent.
  3. Softened butter is added to the yolks and sugar, mixed.
  4. Pour flour, baking powder and warm water into the mixture - and again, thoroughly beat everything.
  5. Go to the proteins: they add a pinch of salt and whisk until fluffy (the mass should acquire a white color).
  6. Whipped proteins are transferred to the dishes with the dough, mix well.
  7. They cover the baking sheet with baking paper, spread the dough on it, distributing it evenly.

  1. Melt chocolate in a water bath.
  2. Beat butter, adding powdered sugar to it in small portions.
  3. Melted chocolate is poured into the butter-sugar mixture and continued to beat until smooth.

Separate the cream so that it is enough for the layer and on the top coating.

  2. In a pan, milk and sugar are mixed.
  3. The mixture is put to cook, from time to time it is stirred. The color of the mass should become darker.
  4. After about 20-25 minutes. add molasses to the pan. Cook for about 10 minutes.
  5. The resulting fondant is removed from the heat, slightly cooled. Add butter to it and begin to whisk. The result should be a light brown mass. A small amount (about 100 g) can be set aside to decorate the cake.
  6. Add nuts and powdered sugar to the fondant, mix well.
  7. You can form a cake on a film or place it in a form previously covered with parchment. Keep in the refrigerator for 4 hours.

For decoration, you should take:

  • 100 g of fudge;
  • 40 g of soft butter.

Beat the butter with fondant, decorate the cake with the finished cream. You can use nuts for decoration.

Coffee Dessert

The usual taste of Polena can be varied a little by adding coffee to the cream. Puff pastry sticks are baked in the same way as indicated in the classic recipe.

For coffee cream you will need:

  • 180 g soft butter;
  • 2 tsp ground coffee;
  • 200-250 ml of condensed milk.

All components are whipped, after which they form a cake of sticks and cream. Puff "Wood" with the taste of coffee is wrapped in cling film and sent to a cold place for 10 hours.

How to cook "Birch Log"

Cake "Birch log" - an original variation of the dessert, which is considered relatively simple to prepare.

For the test, take the following components:

  • 3 eggs;
  • 2/3 cup sugar;
  • 3 cups flour;
  • 1 tsp soda;
  • 2 tbsp. l honey.

For cream you need to take:

  • 2/3 cup sugar;
  • 300 g of curd;
  • 3-3.5 cups of sour cream.

For decoration: small chocolate strips or grated chocolate.

Stages of preparation:

  1. Sugar and honey are added to the eggs, mix well.
  2. Next add soda and flour, knead the elastic dough.
  3. The dough is divided into 3 equal parts, rolled into a rectangle, cut into strips no more than 2 cm wide (you can do this directly on the baking sheet).
  4. On a baking sheet put baking paper. Dough is laid on it: the strips try not to move close to each other so that they do not stick together.
  5. Keep in the oven for about 6 minutes. at 220 ° C. The dough should lighten.
  6. The baking sheet is taken out of the oven. If necessary, finished sticks can be shortened by trimming their edges.
  7. Then prepare the cream, whipping the sour cream with sugar. The curd mass is added to the mixture, mixed until thick. The cream must have a consistency so that it can be poured.
  8. The cake can be formed on cling film or foil (or use 2 types of wrappers at once). A little cream is poured onto the film, the sticks are placed on top, the cream is again on them - and so on until all the ingredients are used. The sticks should be completely covered with cream.
  9. The treat is shaped into logs, wrapped in foil or film. Put in a cold place for 8 hours. After removing from the refrigerator, decorate with long pieces of chocolate or apply strips with chocolate chips.
