Syrup Fluditec for cough - composition and form of release

The cough medicine is available in two forms:

  • syrup 2%, light yellow, with a banana flavor;
  • Fluditec 5%, a light green liquid with a caramel smell.

The active substance of the drug is carbocysteine. 100 mg of the substance is in 5 ml of banana syrup, in caramel - 250 mg of carbocysteine.

Additionally, the medicine contains:

  • preservative methyl parahydroxybenzoate;
  • glycerol;
  • sucrose;
  • dyes (yellow in banana syrup, blue and yellow in caramel);
  • flavors (banana or caramel);
  • caustic soda;
  • purified water.

Transparent syrup is poured into glass bottles of 125 ml. Bottles are packed in cardboard boxes.

Indications for use

Fluditec is a mucolytic agent that also has an immunostimulating effect on the body of adults and children.

Syrup Properties:

  • liquefies viscous sputum in the bronchi;
  • stimulates the elimination of mucus from the respiratory tract;
  • restores the structure of the mucous membrane of the bronchi;
  • eliminates inflammatory processes;
  • enhances local immunity.

Indications for the use of syrup are acute and chronic pathologies of the respiratory tract (upper and lower), nasopharynx, ear, in which the withdrawal of sputum is difficult.

Among them:

  • bronchitis;
  • pneumonia;
  • tracheitis;
  • tracheobronchitis;
  • bronchial asthma;
  • bronchiectatic disease;
  • sinusitis;
  • nasopharyngitis;
  • rhinitis;
  • adenoiditis;
  • middle ear inflammation;
  • whooping cough.

Fluditec is also prescribed before bronchoscopy or bronchography.

At what age can children be given

Children's cough syrup (2%) is recommended for treating a child who has reached 2 years of age. In some cases, pediatricians prescribe Fluditec for babies from 1 month. In this case, the patient should be under the supervision of a doctor.

Syrup 5% is intended for adult patients, children can be given the drug in this concentration after reaching 15 years.

Instructions for use syrup Fluditec

If there are indications for treatment with carbocysteine, the doctor prescribes a course of therapy. The duration and dose of the drug depends on the severity of the disease, the symptoms, the results of clinical tests, the general condition and age of the patient.

For adults

For the treatment of adult patients (from 15 years), 5% cough syrup is used.

If the doctor has not indicated another treatment regimen, then the typical dosage is used:

  • the norm per day is 2250 mg of carbocysteine;
  • drink 1 tbsp. l (15 ml) syrup 3 times a day.

For children

In the treatment of respiratory diseases of young patients, it is recommended to use Fluditec syrup for children 2%. It helps to remove mucus from the bronchi, to make a cough productive.

Treatment with the drug should be carried out according to the scheme indicated by the pediatrician, strictly follow the dosage and take into account the features of the reception.

The norm of the drug depends on the age and weight of the child:

  1. Babies from 1 month to 2 years old are prescribed 20-30 mg of syrup per 1 kg of weight per day, divided into 2 doses. Do not exceed the daily norm of 100 mg of carbocysteine.
  2. Children 2–5 years old - 1 tsp. (5 ml) of the drug 2 times a day. The norm per day is 200 mg of the active substance.
  3. Patients older than 5 years - 1 tsp. syrup 3 times a day. The daily norm is no more than 300 mg.

For greater effectiveness, you need to take syrup in between meals (one hour before or 2 hours after eating). The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor. On average, the course of therapy lasts 8-10 days.

Syrup Fluditec during pregnancy

Is it possible to take medicine in the treatment of diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by difficult separation of sputum, for women expecting a baby?

The solution to this issue depends on the specific situation and gestational age:

  1. In the first trimester, doctors do not recommend consuming syrup due to possible abnormalities in the development of the fetus.
  2. In the second and third trimester, the drug is allowed if the benefit from it is higher than the possible risk for the unborn child.

Nursing mother drink Fluditec syrup is strictly prohibited. If there is an urgent need for treatment with the drug, breastfeeding should be stopped. Again, you can start breastfeeding no earlier than 14 days after therapy.

Side effects, overdose and contraindications

Fluditec is usually well tolerated by the body.

In rare cases, undesirable side effects may occur:

  • general weakness;
  • dizziness;
  • headache;
  • nausea, bouts of vomiting;
  • indigestion, diarrhea;
  • increased flatulence;
  • allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling).

If such symptoms appear, you should temporarily stop treatment with the drug and consult a doctor for advice. It may be necessary to reduce the dose or replace it.

Exceeding the recommended amount of syrup threatens the appearance of signs of an overdose:

  • stomach ache;
  • nausea;
  • vomiting
  • loose stools.

To improve well-being, you need to rinse the stomach and take sorbents that will remove toxins, reduce the effect of the drug.

Cough syrup for adults and children is not recommended for use in certain diseases.

Contraindications for taking the medicine:

  1. Individual intolerance to carbocysteine, other components of the syrup.
  2. Age up to 2 years (for taking syrup 2%), up to 15 years (5%). The use of Fluditec from 1 month is possible in special cases, always under the supervision of a doctor.
  3. Chronic pathologies of the kidneys in the acute period (glomerulonephritis, cystitis).
  4. Pregnancy up to 14 weeks.
  5. Gastrointestinal ulcer during exacerbation.

In addition, it should be used with caution in patients who cannot recover for a long time from coughing. If the pathologies of the bronchi or lungs have already turned into a chronic form, sputum comes out with pus, fever is observed - treatment should occur with regular monitoring of the patient's condition.

Patients with diabetes should take into account that 5 ml of Fluditec 2% syrup contains 3.5 g of sucrose. The drug at a concentration of 5% has 5.25 mg of sucrose in 15 ml.
