A New Yorker named Michael one day found at home two little squirrels. Returning home after work, he saw unusual guests in his bed. It turned out that while no one was at home, the squirrel mother entered the house and decided to make a nest right on the bed.

The mother who left the cubs
Since the squirrel was in no hurry to return to its cubs, Michael and his wife Christine decided to immediately use the help of veterinarians. But the newly-made mother, apparently, was very busy collecting branches for the nest. She was not going to return to her offspring. Having appeared at the couple’s house several more times, eventually she disappeared completely.
Ultimately, she generally stopped coming home.
The only pet in the house
Unfortunately, one of the cubs did not survive this. Only one small squirrel survived. Michael and Christina called her Thumbelina. After all, all the items for her were too large. It was almost impossible to feed her from the nipple.
Thumbelina, as expected, grew an unusual squirrel. Firstly, she was born in an unusual season. The fact that the squirrel grew up without contact with its own kind also played a role. And, of course, her habitat had a great influence - she had to grow not in a forest, but in a human house.
Unusual squirrel
Unlike other small squirrels, Thumbelina was not very fond of jumping and climbing trees. “Our pet is much more like walking or running, rather than doing normal squirrel affairs”- says Christina.
Despite the attempts of her human “parents” to introduce Thumbelina to other proteins, society of its kind did not interest her. “I don’t know what she’s thinking. But definitely her thoughts differ from most considerations that go to squirrel heads. Unless, of course, squirrels can think of something, ”Michael shares.
Calm Life Thumbelina
Now Thumbelina is quite a happy squirrel. Michael and Christine are crazy about her. She loves to feast on pieces of sugar, avocado, as well as arugula. And she doesn’t like things like the menacing nature of the house, cold weather, and other squirrels.
