Composition, active substance Nasonex
Nasal spray contains 60 or 120 doses of mometasone furoate. A prodrug in the body turns into mometasone - a modern glucocorticosteroid (GCS). Auxiliary components are non-alkonium chloride and other substances dissolved in purified water. With one injection of the spray, a portion of the suspension enters the mucous membrane of the nasal passages, which contains 50 μg of mometasone (1 dose).
GCS inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators, in particular histamine, from mast cells. And also the active substance inhibits the production of prostaglandins. When administered intranasally, Nazonex spray has a local antiallergic, antipruritic and decongestant effect.
Instructions for use of the drug
The spray is applied intranasally in acute inflammation in the nasal cavity. Nasonex is used for allergic rhinitis and sinusitis, but without signs of a serious bacterial complication, hay fever (allergies to plant pollen). The tool helps to alleviate the manifestations of bronchial asthma. This drug for children over 2 years of age is prescribed for allergic rhinitis, sinusitis and adenoids.
An adult should inject a spray into the nose of a small child.
After the first inhalation within 12 hours, symptoms begin to disappear: itching in the nose, sneezing, profuse watery runny nose. The full therapeutic effect is felt in a day.
After purchasing the spray, you need to calibrate the dosing device:
- Shake the contents, then unscrew the cap.
- Hold the bottom of the bottle with your thumb, and press the middle and forefinger 10 times on the top of the nozzle.
- The appearance of “fog” from the smallest droplets of suspension means that the spray is ready for use.
- A hole equipped with a metering device is inserted in turn into each nasal passage and press on a special nozzle.
As indicated in the instructions for use, in the future you only need to shake the bottle before using the product. After 2 weeks of use, calibration is again carried out to achieve an even content of GCS in the next portion of the suspension.
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age make 2 inhalations of the substance in each nostril. Injections should be performed 1 time per day, preferably at the same time. The daily dose is 200 mcg. Patients from 2 to 12 years old should be given one injection in each nostril 1 time, which corresponds to 100 μg of the drug per day.
Respiratory manifestations of seasonal rhinitis and pollinosis are confined to the flowering of allergenic plants. Reception of Nasonex is recommended to begin 3 weeks before the appearance of flowers and the entire period of dusting. If the symptoms of an allergic disease are relieved, then use the spray only 1 time per day.
Sinusitis is treated with high doses of mometasone. To do this, increase the number of applications - make 2 inhalations in each nasal passage, but twice a day. The maximum dose of the substance is 400 mcg / day.
Nasonex is used intranasally for polyposis in adults (after 18 years). Spray the spray in the morning and evening - 2 doses in each nostril. Thus, the daily amount of mometasone with this diagnosis is 400 mcg.
GAS nasal spray is intended for long-term treatment, but care must be taken.
With intranasal administration, a small part of the dose, about 0.1%, enters the systemic circulation. Absorption of the drug increases in the presence of a wound or trauma to the nasal cavity. If you use the spray for a long time, exceeding the dosage, then a systemic effect may occur.
GC drugs have serious side effects. They can inhibit the function of the adrenal glands, cause the loss of bone mineral, delay the growth of children, increase intraocular pressure.

The combined remedy is a good replacement for Nazonex. Treatment with such a medication is more effective compared to monotherapy (using only azelastine or corticosteroids).
An antihistamine provides an early onset of antiallergic action (after 15 minutes). The disadvantage is the fact that the effect passes quickly, so a second application during the day is required. GCS has a longer effect.
You can use the spray with mometasone intranasally and drink tablets or syrup with loratadine. This is a blocker of H1-histamine receptors. An antihistamine also has an anti-allergic effect, eliminates itching and swelling of the mucosa.

Beclomethasone is the active substance of the Nasobek spray. The drug is prescribed for vasomotor, allergic and seasonal rhinitis from the age of 6 years. The cost of 1 bottle is 180 rubles.
