Forms of release of the drug, composition
The active ingredient of the drug is meloxicam, which is referred to as oxycam. The described drug is produced by the Israeli company Teva. The manufacturer offers two forms of medication: in the form of a solution for injection or in tablets.
Meloxicam tablets may contain 7.5 or 15 mg of active ingredient. The medicine with a dose of 7.5 mg is made in the form of flat round pills with a yellow color, with a dividing strip on one side and engraving "MLX 7.5" on the other. The medicine with a dosage of 15 mg is made in the form of oval tablets, also having a yellow color and corresponding engraving. Each package contains 20 tablets (2 blisters of 10 pieces).
The solution for injection contains 15 mg of active ingredient per ampoule (1.5 ml). The pack contains 5 ampoules.
What helps Meloxicam-Teva
This medicine, having analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects, has a wide range of uses. Meloxicam helps with severe joint, muscle pain.It effectively eliminates fever, is prescribed for primary dysmenorrhea, inflammatory processes that are accompanied by pain.
This effect of the drug is due to the properties of the active component. It inhibits the production of prostaglandins (they are mediators of inflammation), due to which its anti-inflammatory is determined, analgesic and antipyretic effects. Pharmacists cannot describe the exact mechanism of action of this substance, like other NSAIDs.
With intramuscular injections of the drug, its bioavailability reaches 100%. With internal administration of the drug, its bioavailability decreases slightly, but remains quite high - up to 89%.
Indications for use medications are:
- pain with rheumatoid arthritis;
- exacerbation of ankylosing spondylitis;
- osteoarthritis;
- degenerative changes in articular tissue;
- arthrosis.
In some cases, the medicine is recommended to relieve joint, muscle pain in injuries.
Instructions for use and dosage
Since the medicine is available in the form of tablets and injection, the dosage and schedule will be different. Introduction intramuscularly indicated for acute attacks, for long-term therapy, oral administration is recommended.
Injections are performed only intramuscularly, the contents of 1 ampoule are administered once a day, this dose is not recommended to be exceeded. The course of therapy should not exceed 2-3 days. Exceptions are allowed in cases where it is impossible to continue therapy with tablets. But in such situations, it is necessary to reduce the dosage of the drug and minimize the course of treatment - in order to reduce side effects. A constant assessment of the patient's condition, the severity of pain, response to therapy is required.
For older people or those who have a high risk of adverse reactions, an initial dosage of 7.5 mg of meloxicam per day is prescribed.

The dosage is selected based on the type of disease:
- with exacerbation of osteoarthrosis - 7.5 mg, in some cases, the dosage can be doubled;
- with exacerbation of rheumatoid arthritis, spondylitis - 15 mg;
- with other diseases - from 7.5 mg.
In all cases, it is forbidden to exceed the daily dose of 15 mg, even if therapy does not reduce pain to an appropriate degree. Elderly or at high risk of occurrence side reactions the amount of the drug is selected by the doctor individually. You can not combine Meloxicam with any other types of NSAIDs. Pregnancy and lactation
It has been proven that inhibition of prostaglandin production has a negative effect on the fetus, so the use of the drug during the 1st and 3rd trimesters is prohibited, except in cases of urgent need, provided that the minimum dosage is used. With caution, the medicine is prescribed in the 2nd trimester.
As for lactation, NSAIDs can pass into breast milk, so taking these drugs should be as careful as possible. But when breastfeeding, Meloxicam is not prohibited.

Drug interaction
The tool is not recommended for use with such groups of drugs:
- all types of NSAIDs and acetylsalicylic acid;
- corticosteroids;
- all types of anticoagulants;
- thrombolytic agents;
- diuretic drugs;
- antihypertensive drugs;
- calcineurin inhibitors;
- intrauterine contraceptives.

Contraindications for use, side effects, overdose

It is forbidden to take medicine for a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, severe renal, hepatic or heart failure, or bleeding disorders.
Side reactions when taking this NSAID most often occur from the gastrointestinal tract (stool, nausea and vomiting, the development of gastritis, peptic ulcer, hepatitis, jaundice, liver failure). The medicine causes hyperkalemia, retains water and sodium, which leads to an increase in blood pressure. Quite often there are violations of blood counts. Perhaps the development of tachycardia, heart failure may occur.
From the side of the central nervous system, headache, constant drowsiness, anxiety, mood swings are possible.
Some patients complain of tinnitus, loss of clarity of vision. In some cases, a skin rash, itching, dermatitis, and other skin disorders can occur.
Among the common disorders, flu-like symptoms and swelling are noted. With individual intolerance, allergic reactions develop, including anaphylactic shock.
Symptoms of an overdose:
- the occurrence of pain in the epigastrium, the appearance of nausea and vomiting, the development of bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract;
- drowsiness, lethargy;
- increase in blood pressure;
- the development of acute failure (renal and hepatic);
- heart failure;
- coma.
If signs of an overdose occur, treatment is indicated in accordance with the symptoms and a complete withdrawal of the drug.
