Composition and description of the form
Miramistin ointment is produced in Ukraine by the Darnitsa company. It is used for external and local use.
Any kind of Miramistin has an antiseptic effect. Ointment is packaged in packages of 15, 20 and 30 grams. For frequent use, there is the possibility of acquiring funds in larger volumes. The ointment is white, contained in a tube, located in a cardboard box. It consists of:
- miramistin - the main component;
- Trilon B;
- medical petroleum jelly;
- polyethylene oxide-400;
- proxanol-268;
- macrogol-400, 1500, 6000;
- water.
All components of Miramistin ointment are not toxic, so the tool is widely used in medicine.

Pharmacological action, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
Miramistin ointment has an antiseptic effect. It is able to destroy all types of staphylococci and streptococci, it copes with the causative agent of gonorrhea and syphilis. And also ointment can suppress the activity of some simple bacteria, including Trichomonas. Moreover, due to its physicochemical properties, Miramistin Darnitsa destroys the upper and pathogenic microflora in the tissues.
The ointment removes inflammation on the wound surface and around it, and also reduces the volume of purulent infiltrate and dries the dead tissue. When using the product, damage to healthy skin cells does not occur and edge epithelization is not inhibited.
Miramistin in the composition of the drug destroys all types of pathogenic microorganisms. And the combination of components fights marsupials, yeast and dermatophytes. Thanks to the ointment with miramistin, the effect of antibiotics is enhanced, infection of damaged tissue sites is prevented due to activation of cell regeneration.
Since the product is applied topically, its components are practically not absorbed into the skin and mucous membranes, which means that only a small amount of ointment enters the systemic circulation. It is removed from the body gradually, naturally, without harm.
Part of the product after use on extensive wound surfaces enters the bloodstream, affecting the intensity of bleeding. Therefore, when processing damage to the skin of such a volume, it is better to choose other analog preparations.
What is the drug prescribed
Miramistin ointment is used to treat diseases from various fields of medicine. It is used:
- in surgery during operations and to prevent infection of postoperative wounds (by applying to a gauze bandage or tampon);
- to eliminate fungal lesions and rashes caused by papilloma virus;
- with bacterial infections and some pathologies of ENT organs;
- in the treatment of eye diseases (conjunctivitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, keratitis);
- as a rinse for the prevention and treatment of gingivitis and stomatitis;
- for the treatment of genitalia after intercourse in order to destroy possible pathogenic microflora;
- in the treatment of mycoses, pyoderma, candidiasis, staphilo- and streptoderma;
- with burns, frostbite, fistulas, bedsores and purulent wounds.
As a rule, the ointment base is first applied to a cotton swab or bandage and only then applied to the affected area.
Instructions for use of ointment with Miramistin
Miramistin ointment is prescribed by the doctor after examining the patient. It is intended for local use with pre-treatment of the affected surface. Instructions for use of the drug in general terms are as follows:
- With chickenpox, the ointment is applied 5 times a day to pinpoint lesions of the skin.
- To treat candidiasis, the composition is evenly applied to turunda (cotton swab) and injected into the vagina twice a day.
- In the treatment of dermatomycosis, the ointment is used in conjunction with antifungal drugs of systemic action.
- In order to treat bedsores, the drug is used three times a day.
- To eliminate fungal lesions on the skin, the ointment is applied in a small layer on the skin twice a day. If the infection is localized under the nails, then before using Miramistin, you need to peel off the nail plate.
- Apply to wounds and burns after standard treatment. In the first phase of damage, a single application of Miramistin ointment per day is sufficient, in the second - 1 time in three days.
The average treatment time with Miramistin ointment is one and a half months. The daily dose of the drug is a maximum of 100 g.
Keep the medication out of the reach of children in a dry and dark place for no more than 2 years from the date of manufacture.
The drug does not affect attention, focusing of vision and coordination of movements. The use of ointment after taking ethanol as part of drinks or therapeutic agents reduces its effectiveness.
Interaction with other drugs
Miramistin loses its effectiveness if used in combination with drugs that contain anionic surfactants (soap solutions). And with combination therapy combined with taking antibiotics, the dosage of the antibacterial agent can be reduced. No other information was obtained on the interaction of the drug with other substances.
Overdose and side effects
The drug rarely causes a negative reaction.As a rule, it is limited to itching, burning and urticaria. Side effects go away on their own and do not require a sharp interruption of treatment or taking analgesics. In rare cases, the patient may experience allergies as a result of intolerance to the components of the product.
Cases of overdose with Miramistin ointment were not detected. But when processing an extensive wound surface, the drug enters the bloodstream, affecting the duration of bleeding. Then the patient may be prescribed calcium medications, Vikasol and the immediate exclusion of Miramistin from treatment.
