Klenzit-S for acne is a safe combined gel gel consistency pharmaceutical product developed for topical treatment of acne and inflamed comedones, as well as preventing the appearance of acne.

Composition (active substance) Klenzit-S

Dermatotropic topical skin application from the Indian company Glenmark is made in the form of a white gel and is available in tubes of 15 and 30 grams.
The treating gel base is represented by two active components:

  • the antibacterial substance clindamycin of the class of lincosamides;
  • adapalene - an intermediate substance of a retinoid of the 3rd generation (a synthetic analogue of retinoic acid, similar in structure to vitamin A - endowed with its properties).

In 1 gram of medication are 1 ml of adapalene, subjected to micronization (decrease in particle size in order to increase the degree of solubility and absorption area) and 10 mg of clindamycin in the form of phosphate.

Auxiliary components of the gel are necessary for stabilization, conservation, increase viscosity.

Useful properties and pharmacological action

The healing properties of Klenzit-S are provided by a combination of the properties of its two therapeutic substances, which enhance and support the therapeutic effect of each other.
Adapalen topical application:

  • prevents the formation of comedones - white and blackheads, which form when the mouth of the hair bulb is blocked with a mixture of dead skin cells and sebum (sebum) in case of keratinization (hyperkeratosis);
  • normalizes differentiation - the process of changing the functions, sizes, shapes and activity of metabolic processes of epithelial cells in the areas of hair follicles and outside these zones;
  • reduces the “adhesion” of epithelial tissue cells (keratinocytes) in the region of the sebaceous hair follicles and accelerates their desquamation (exfoliation);
  • regulates the keratinization process;
  • reduces the release of sebum;
    reduces acne inflammation by inhibiting the activity of inflammatory factors
  • accelerates the healing of damaged areas, prevents the manifestation of post-acne (scars, stagnant spots, "pits", skin roughness);
    facilitates the cleansing of the sebaceous ducts.

In addition, adaptale is positively distinguished from other retinoids in that, decaying on the skin under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, it shows a minimal formation of toxins on it, does not cause thickening of the epidermis, severe irritation, severe flaking and dryness.

Clindamycin phosphate, introduced into the gel, after skin treatment quickly undergoes hydrolysis under the action of phosphatase enzymes in the sebaceous ducts with the formation of the antibiotic substance clindamycin. It has a high activity against aggression of cutaneous bacteria of the species Propionibacterium acnes - it stops the division of pathogenic microorganisms due to the ability to suppress protein production in their cells. Due to this property, it is widely used in bacterial lesions of the skin and fatty tissue.

The absorption of adapalene and clindamycin from the skin into the general bloodstream is very small - only 3 - 4% of the amount of active substances that enter the epidermis. Complete removal from the body occurs mainly with bile.

Instructions for use of the gel for children and adults

The main diseases in which a medication is prescribed from the age of 12 years are acne and acne, which are often observed in growing children during puberty and adults due to "hormonal bursts", due to internal diseases, seborrhea, external influences, hormones, uncontrolled use of cosmetics.

The product for external use is applied topically, most often on the face, but Klenzit-S gel shows good results when it treats the skin of the chest, back and forearms.

Before applying the product, the skin is cleaned with a non-invasive cleansing lotion, foam, milk recommended by a dermatologist to maximize the release of skin from fat, makeup and dust.

Then the skin in places of acne and acne is treated with gel once a day before bedtime, trying to prevent the product from getting into the eyes, mouth and nasal cavity.

It is necessary to distribute the gel, without rubbing or covering it with the entire skin, but applying it to the foci of acne clusters, and pointly - to inflamed acne.

The therapeutic effect of Klenzit-S begins to appear after 10-20 days of use. A marked marked improvement in acne symptoms is observed after 4-5 weeks of therapy.

The duration of therapy is determined by a dermatologist according to the condition of the skin and positive dynamics during application of the gel. Usually this is an interval from 2-4 weeks to 2 months.

The second course is only after the recommendation of a specialist.

Features:

  • they treat the skin with the gel just before bedtime - ultraviolet light (including UV radiation and even the sun's rays passing into the room during the day) causes the adapalene to decompose with the formation of toxins, which increase the risk of malignant changes in cells;
  • in the early days of therapy, exacerbation of acne is sometimes noted, which subsides during the further use of the drug.

It must be borne in mind that an excessive amount of gel, which lubricates the lesion, does not enhance the therapeutic effect and does not accelerate its onset, but can lead to pronounced adverse reactions.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding

The drug is prohibited for use in pregnant women. Although the gel is poorly absorbed into the blood from the surface of the skin, it is known that all retinoids to one degree or another negatively affect the embryo and fetus, increasing the likelihood of pathologies. With the external application of such medications (including Klenzit-C), cases of the birth of children with birth defects, which are observed when taking retinoids inside, are recorded. The level of exposure to the embryo and fetus on the FDA scale for adapalene is “C”.

Despite the fact that the penetration of antibiotic and adapalene into the circulatory system is very low, they pass into breast milk. And although the exact amounts of substances and their effect on the baby are not precisely established, lactating patients are not allowed to use the gel, much less treat them with mammary glands.

Interaction with other drugs

Against the background of gel treatment, it is extremely undesirable to use other external and internal pharmaceuticals, including retinoids and antibiotic substances, so as not to cause an increase in their general effect on the body and the development of adverse reactions.

It is impractical to use local preparations that dry the skin at the same time with the gel (including alcohol), since they can provoke additional irritation and peeling.

Therapy of acne with Klenzit-S should not be accompanied by the use of drugs containing clindamycin, erythromycin.

Contraindications and side effects

The use of the gel is prohibited:

  • in areas of open ulcers, wounds, burns;
  • with intolerance to the treating and auxiliary components of the medication;
  • with breastfeeding and pregnancy;
  • in adolescents under 12 years of age (there is no exact information);

With caution, the drug is used in patients with dermatitis, drug allergies, eczema, colitis (ulcerative and pseudomembranous), while taking muscle relaxants, clindamycin in tablets or injections.

Gel acne treatment may be accompanied by undesirable side effects, among which are:

  • in the first days - an increase in dryness, the appearance of redness, peeling, a slight burning sensation in the areas of application of the product (usually goes away on its own after reducing the frequency of applications to a single application every other day or when the therapy is temporarily stopped);
  • contact dermatitis, soreness, swelling of the skin;
  • with prolonged use - increasing the resistance of pathogenic organisms to antibacterial substances;
  • swelling of the eyelids, irritation of the conjunctiva, burning and itching in the eyes, swelling around the eyes (with periorbital application of the gel);
  • folliculitis caused by pathogenic bacteria not sensitive to clindomycin;
  • abdominal pain, loose stools, nausea (isolated cases with prolonged treatment and treatment of large areas of the skin with a large amount of gel).

Very rarely, against the background of concurrent administration of clindamycin (oral, intramuscular, intravenous), ulcerative and pseudomembranous colitis may develop. Signs of the disease can occur both with long-term use of the gel, and 2-3 weeks after the cessation of its use. If there is severe prolonged diarrhea, fever, inclusions of mucus and blood in the feces - the drug should be canceled and consult a doctor immediately. In mild cases, the use of cholestyramine is sufficient, in severe cases, hospitalization is required (restoration of fluid, electrolyte and protein losses, antibiotic therapy (vancomycin, metronidazole by mouth).

Gel overdose is unlikely, but possible in single patients with prolonged use of large amounts of gel on large fragments of the skin, especially if it has open sores, abrasions, burns.Signs of an overdose are an increase or a sharp appearance of side effects.

If the gel accidentally gets into your eyes, they are washed immediately with clean water. In case of accidental swallowing of the gel and the appearance of nausea, it is necessary to take Polysorb adsorbent and immediately consult a doctor who can prescribe gastric lavage.
