The heart and blood vessels need protection, because the state of the whole organism depends on their health. Cardiomagnyl is a rather popular means of advertising due to advertising, which is often prescribed to patients by cardiologists and therapists. What is this drug, why is it needed, how to use it correctly?

Release form, composition and packaging

Manufacturers of Cardiomagnyl took care of the aesthetic component of their drug: these tablets are in the form of small hearts. They are white in color with a neutral odor.

100 tablets of hearts are placed in a plastic opaque container with a wide neck and a screw cap. Each is packed in a cardboard box with a dim design and brief information on it. Detailed instructions for the use of Cardiomagnyl with a description of side effects, indications and contraindications are attached to each package.

Paying attention to the composition of Cardiomagnyl, many will be pleasantly surprised: the active component of the tablets is the familiar aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). In tandem with it stands magnesium - an important nutrient that takes part in enzymatic reactions in the body. Each tablet contains 75 mg of aspirin and just over 15 mg of magnesium.

Pharmacological action, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

The effect on the human body of acetylsalicylic acid is well understood. We are used to taking “acetyl” for signs of the common cold and fever, but the treatment spectrum is not limited to this.

In low concentrations, it significantly reduces the risk of pathologies of cardiac and vascular genes and associated complications after heart diseases, makes the blood less viscous and minimizes the likelihood of thrombosis.

Magnesium also reduces the aggressive effect of acid on the gastric mucosa, promotes better absorption of Cardiomagnyl, and it also takes part in important metabolic processes of the body.

When taken orally, Cardiomagnyl acetylsalicylic acid is absorbed in the intestine by almost 70-80%. The elimination half-life does not exceed 3 hours.

What is Cardiomagnyl for?

If the doctor prescribed Cardiomagnyl tablets, there is a need. Without indications, they are not prescribed: this is not a dietary supplement, but a drug. Aspirin and magnesium, which are the basis of Cardiomagnyl, are effective in:

  • ischemia - a pathology characterized by a violation of the blood supply to the myocardium;
  • diseases (and predispositions to them) of cardiovascular origin as a therapeutic and prophylactic drug (including in patients at risk with diabetes mellitus, overweight, hypertension);
  • acute thrombosis;
  • all variants of angina pectoris.

In addition, Cardiomagnyl is also used in the postoperative period after surgical treatment of blood vessels.

Instructions for use and dosage of tablets

Since taking the whole tablet is not always convenient, it is allowed to grind the "heart" or break it in half. Drink the drug with water.

The dosage for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases (thrombosis, heart failure) is observed as follows:

  • on the first day - 150 mg of Cardiomagnyl (equal to two tablets) once;
  • then - on a tablet (75 mg) of the drug once a day for the prescribed course.

In order to prevent thrombosis or secondary heart attack, Cardiomagnyl is used 1-2 tablets once a day. One or two tablets are also prescribed to prevent thromboembolism after vascular surgery, with angina pectoris, and so on.

The drug is effective regardless of whether it is taken in the morning or evening. However, it is more advisable to drink Cardiomagnyl one hour after the last meal in the evening, trying to comply with this intake time daily.

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor. In some cases, Cardiomagnyl may be prescribed for life.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy and at the stage of breastfeeding, the choice of drugs should be treated with extreme caution. Cardiomagnyl for expectant mothers and breast-feeding is prescribed only by the attending physician and is taken under his constant supervision.

Treatment with tablets in the first trimester is contraindicated, since acetylsalicylic acid can have a negative effect on the formation of the embryo. Contraindications apply to the third trimester, since the active component of Cardiomagnyl carries an increased risk:

  • intracranial hemorrhage in a baby;
  • early closure in a child of arterial blood flow;
  • inhibition of labor activity.

Due to the scarcity of practical data on the effects of aspirin on an infant during lactation, it is not recommended to use Cardiomagnyl in combination with breastfeeding. You can take it only in cases where the potential benefit of the drug exceeds the likely risk.

Interesting fact! Aspirin helps treat infertility: destroying a protein that causes miscarriages, acetylsalicylic acid increases the chance of conception at low but regular doses. Therefore, at the stage of pregnancy planning, Cardiomagnyl is not contraindicated.

Drug interaction

Concomitant use of Cardiomagnyl with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is not recommended. The parallel use of aspirin-containing agents with thrombolytics and anticoagulants increases the risk of bleeding.

Cardiomagnyl and Ibuprofen should not be taken together: the antiplatelet effect of acetylsalicylic acid with this “union” is reduced.

In large doses, aspirin causes a hypoglycemic effect, which is important to consider when prescribing Cardiomagnyl to people with diabetes. Long-term therapy with low doses of aspirin can cause complications from the digestive tract.

Cardiomagnyl Compatibility with Alcohol

Most drugs are incompatible with alcohol. In this regard, Cardiomagnyl is no exception. The combined use of the drug and alcohol-containing drinks leads to an additive effect and increases the risk of intragastric and intestinal bleeding.

Contraindications, side effects and overdose

When should Cardiomagnyl not be taken? The list of contraindications:

  • intolerance to the components of Cardiomagnylum of an individual nature;
  • high sensitivity to aspirin;
  • renal failure;
  • children and adolescents;
  • pregnancy during the first and last trimesters;
  • a tendency to bleeding in certain diseases (for example, with hemophilia and poor blood coagulation);
  • exacerbation of gastrointestinal diseases in the chronic stage.

There may be situations when Cardiomagnyl is the cause of adverse reactions from various body systems:

  • circulatory system: decreased platelet aggregation, intracerebral bleeding, aplastic anemia;
  • Gastrointestinal tract: ulceration of the upper esophagus, stomach bleeding, colitis;
  • CNS: sleep disturbances or drowsiness;
  • dermatology: skin reactions.

Compliance with dosage is an important condition for therapy with Cardiomagnyl. If the recommended doses are exceeded, typical symptoms are possible: vomiting, nausea, fever, heart failure, coma. A lethal outcome occurs in 2% of cases with an acute overdose of aspirin.

Analogues of the drug

Some people, having studied the composition of Cardiomagnyl, believe that ordinary aspirin will completely cope with the same functions as this drug. However, it should be borne in mind that aspirin with prolonged use causes much more side effects. Therefore, when choosing which is better - Cardiomagnyl or aspirin, it is worth considering the diagnosis, dosage and duration of the recommended therapy.

There are analogues of Cardiomagnyl, matching the ATX code and chemical composition:

  • Magnikor (aspirin - 75 mg, magnesium - 15.2 mg);
  • Thrombo ACC (magnesium does not contain, the active component is aspirin - 50 mg per tablet);
  • Cardi ASA (aspirin 50 mg);
  • Aspirin Cardio (100 mg);
  • Aspirate Cardio (100 mg);
  • Aspecard (100 mg) or Aspicard (75 mg);

Choosing which is better, Thromboass, or Cardiomagnyl, or other drugs containing aspirin, is quite difficult. The main difference between these tablets is that Cardiomagnyl contains magnesium in its composition, and this substance improves the absorption of the drug and reduces side effects from the gastrointestinal tract. It is worth paying attention to the concentration of the active component - acetylsalicylic acid in different preparations contains from 50 to 150 mg.

Maintaining heart health is an important and responsible matter, therefore, you should entrust the choice of a drug to a specialist, and not self-medicate.
