The active substance in the composition of the drug helps to cope with fatigue and a decrease in mental performance. The nootropic agent “Glycine forte” is used for cerebrovascular disorders, which are accompanied by a deterioration in memory and attention. The trade name of the drug coincides with the name of the active ingredient.

Composition and form of release
Various pharmaceutical companies produce preparations containing glycine. The chemical names of the substance are aminoacetic or aminoethanoic acid. Glycine Forte contains 250 mg of the compound. This is the only difference between the drug and Glycine tablets, which contain 100 mg of aminoethanoic acid. The auxiliary part of the composition is represented by methyl cellulose, povidone and magnesium stearate (134, 12 and 4 mg, respectively).
Glycine Forte is available in the form of round cheek pills. On one side of the white pills there is a cross-shaped risk, facilitating breaking into 2 and 4 parts. The name "cheek" describes a method of using the product. The tablet should be absorbed behind the cheek, which in medicine is called "sublingually", or under the tongue - transbuccally. In the mouth, when absorbed, a sweet taste is felt.
Glycine forte Evalar is a dietary supplement of a Russian pharmaceutical company. The active substance also has a synthetic origin, as in the composition of the drug.Bioadditive is not considered a medicine until the manufacturer has completed the entire volume of clinical studies. These are very expensive events, as well as promotion of funds. The company's financial research costs necessarily lead to an increase in the cost of the drug.
Pharmacological properties and pharmacokinetics
Glycine is the simplest compound in the class of amino acids. Aminoethanoic acid exhibits outstanding physiological activity. Glycine is involved in metabolic reactions important for the functioning of the central nervous system (CNS). This interchangeable amino acid is essential for creating polypeptides, proteins, enzymes, and hormones.
The list of properties of the drug in the instructions for use and annotations:
- nootropic;
- metabolic
- antiepileptic;
- anti-stress.
- sedatives.
Glycine is needed to transmit signals between nerve cells, between neurons and muscle fibers. This substance belongs to the neurotransmitters of the inhibitory type. The compound normalizes inhibition and excitement - the main processes in the nervous tissue. Aminoacetic acid is involved in metabolic reactions in the central nervous system, stimulates the immune system, participates in the synthesis of bile acids and neutralizes the destructive effect of free radicals. The decrease in the oxidative effect on the membranes of the cells of the body is called the "antioxidant effect."
In addition, the drug neutralizes toxins in the composition of alcohol, prevents inhibition of the central nervous system when taking certain medications.
Therapists and neurologists prescribe patients to take "Glycine Forte" to reduce the negative effects of brain and vegetovascular disorders. The tool eliminates increased anxiety, aggressiveness. Glycine increases mental performance and memory, muscle activity. After taking the drug, falling asleep is facilitated, and the quality of sleep improves.
Glycine is a low molecular weight substance that easily penetrates tissues and organs. Of particular importance are the biochemical and physiological properties for processes in the brain. However, glycine is not able to accumulate in tissues. The oxidation of the compound is accompanied by the release of the final metabolic products. The process takes place in the liver with the participation of a special enzyme - glycine oxidase. As a result, carbon dioxide and water are released.
Why is Glycine Forte prescribed?
The drug is used in the treatment of ischemic stroke. "Glycine" in dosages of less than 250 mg is used to improve mental performance, relieve psychoemotional stress. The drug is often recommended for schoolchildren and students to take exams during the session. Patients of different age groups are prescribed glycine in stressful situations.
The main indications for treatment with the drug:
- organic diseases associated with the nervous system;
- epilepsy (as an adjuvant);
- encephalopathies of various origins;
- consequences of encephalitis and meningitis;
- functional disorders of the central nervous system
- increased excitability of the NS;
- neurosis and similar conditions;
- deviations in the behavior of children;
- emotional lability;
- ischemic stroke;
- sleep disturbances.
Almost every disease in the list is accompanied by memory impairment. Such "misfires" occur in many, but even in old age they are not necessarily associated with Alzheimer's disease. Forgetfulness is one of the signs of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), hypotension, and affective disorders. Many factors negatively affect memory: alcohol abuse, tranquilizers, sleep disturbances, chemotherapy, nutritional deficiency and fluid deficiency.
Stress, forgetfulness and even lack of fluid contribute to the development of forgetfulness, decrease in concentration and mental abilities.The tool “Glycine Forte” copes in cases of impaired memory and mental abilities, not caused by a serious illness or injury. The listed symptoms can be associated with various pathologies. In most cases, an examination is required to determine the cause of memory impairment and the appointment of complex therapy.
Instructions for use and dosage
You can dissolve tablets "Glycine Forte" behind the cheek or under the tongue. Both methods of medication are used by patients of different ages.
For adults
For a patient who develops an ischemic stroke, the doctor prescribes 1000 mg of glycine. This amount of active ingredient corresponds to taking 4 tablets of “Glycine Forte”. The drug is taken within 3 to 6 hours after the onset of an attack of ischemia. In the following days, the daily dosage is 4 tablets. Further, it is recommended to switch to doses of 125 - 250 mg of glycine 3 times a day. The course is 4 to 5 weeks.
Practically healthy adults can absorb one tablet of Glycine Forte two or three times a day. The drug helps with poor memory, decreased mental performance, stress, unstable psycho-emotional state. The course is from 2 to 4 weeks.
For children
Glycine Forte is usually prescribed for adult patients. The tablets contain an increased dose of the active ingredient (250 mg of glycine). For this reason, the tool is not suitable for all children. If the pill is broken into 4 parts, a little more than 60 mg will be enclosed in each of them. It is convenient to give a child under 3 years of age the tablets “Glycine” or “Glycine-BIO”, produced in a dosage of 50 and 100 mg.
With functional disorders and organic diseases of the central nervous system in a child, 50-100 mg of glycine is prescribed.
Give the tablet to dissolve behind the cheek or grind the powder, dissolve in a teaspoon of water and offer to drink a suspension. Children take the drug 2 to 3 times a day, from 7 to 14 days. Then, maintenance therapy is carried out for 10 days.
Give the child 50 mg of glycine once a day. Children over 3 years old are given ¼ or ½ tablets of “Glycine Forte” two or three times a day for 2 to 4 weeks at a time. However, it should be remembered that the content of the main component in the first case is more than 50, in the second - more than 100 mg (recommended doses in pediatrics).
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Glycine Forte tablets should not be taken by women who are expecting a baby or who are breast-fed. Almost all nootropic drugs are contraindicated in pregnancy.
Drug Interactions with Other Drugs
Glycine does not aggravate, but weakens the side effects of certain groups of drugs. If taken along with antipsychotics, anxiolytics, sleeping pills, antidepressants anticonvulsants, then the negative effect of drugs on the body decreases.
Contraindications, side effects and overdose
The drug should not be taken by those who are diagnosed with hypersensitivity to the main and / or auxiliary components. There are few contraindications, basically the drug is well tolerated by all patients, with rare exceptions.
Caution is advised to take the medicine for those who have low blood pressure.
During the treatment period, a manifestation of an allergy to glycine is possible. An unusual reaction of the body is also expressed in the development of drowsiness. In case of an overdose of any nootropic drugs, there may be drops in blood pressure, nausea, sleep disturbances.
Glycine Forte Analogs
The preparations “Glycine” and “Glycine-BIO” contain the same active substance, only its concentration is 2.5 times lower compared to the “Glycine Forte” tablets. The tool "Glycid" with the same active ingredient is available in Ukraine.
Group analogues of the drug "Glycine Forte" are nootropic drugs. They contain various active substances that have similar effects.
Analogs include:
- Cortexin;
- Pantogam
- Tenoten
- "Cellex".
As well as sedatives:
- Persen
- Validol
- "Motherwort Forte."
These drugs, as well as the Ginkgo Biloba Evalar dietary supplement, are used to improve memory. It is believed that the active substances of the leaves of the ginkgo tree and a number of other plants increase mental performance.
