The medicine is taken for diarrhea, an imbalance of microflora and intestinal diseases. “Enterol” contains unicellular ascomycetes fungi displacing pathogenic microbes from the gastrointestinal tract. The biomaterial in the composition of the drug has an immunobiological effect - it improves the composition of the intestinal microbiome, on which the state of the immune system depends.

Release forms and composition

Enterol produces the international pharmaceutical brand Biocodex, which has a branch in Russia - Biocodex. Enterol antidiarrheal agent is available in powder and capsule dosage forms.

  • Enterol powder is packaged in a sachet. Disposable bags are made of foil, laminated with polyethylene. The number of sachets in one box is from 10 to 50.
  • Enterol capsules under a hard gelatin shell contain a brownish powder with a slight yeast odor. In one blister - 5 or 6, in one plastic bottle - from 10 to 50 capsules.

Specially processed and dried marsupials Saccharomyces boulardii (ascomycetes) is the only active ingredient in Enterol. The powder contains 100 or 250, capsules - 250 mg of lyophilized saccharomycetes Bulardi. Biomaterial better maintains viability under the capsule shell. Dried microorganisms begin to divide when they enter a favorable environment.

How Enterol helps children and adults

Biocodex company for the first time created a preparation based on lyophilized yeast Saccharomyces boulardii. Today it is difficult to give a one-word answer to the question of what the medicine helps with.It is traditionally believed to be an antimicrobial and antidiarrheal agent that improves gut microbiome. Enterol helps with diarrhea of infectious and non-infectious origin.

The tool is used for prevention and therapy:

  • Escherichiosis (one of the manifestations is travelers' diarrhea);
  • microbial colitis caused by bacteria of the genus Clostridium;
  • antibiotic-dissociated types of diarrhea;
  • enteroviral and rotavirus diseases;
  • infection with dysenteric amoeba;
  • dysbiosis;
  • candidiasis.

There are a lot of “bad” microbes in the digestive tract, they cause diarrhea and other disorders, cause great harm to health. Pathogenic bacteria, viruses and fungi negatively affect immunity, which is largely determined by the condition and functioning of the digestive tract.

Bulardi's saccharomycetes inhibit pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms in the intestinal microflora.

Probiotics containing bacteria are a bad choice when diarrhea is caused by antibacterial agents. Enterol biomaterial is not sensitive to antibiotics and is little susceptible to destruction by stomach acid.

Researchers have suggested using the drug for inflammatory diseases and irritable bowel syndrome. In Russia, according to experts, severe forms of IBD predominate, and high mortality is recorded. A study was also conducted on the effectiveness of Enterol for children with hepatitis, accompanied by dysbiosis. Thanks to the use of the drug, dyspeptic disorders pass faster, enzymatic function of the intestine increases.

Antidiarrheal and probiotic agents are included in the complex treatment. The appointment of Enterol with standard therapy drugs helps to quickly eliminate the symptoms of the disease, improve the state of intestinal microflora. Monotherapy is less effective.

Instructions for use of the drug

The powder is diluted with water to obtain a suspension. In this form, it is more convenient to use "Enterol" for the treatment of babies. Children from 0 to 3 years old are given a drug with a dosage of 100 mg. The powder from one sachet is dissolved in 100 ml of water. A baby up to a year is allowed to drink a suspension once, from 1 to 3 years - twice a day.

A child older than 3 years and an adult should take 2 or 3 sachets (200 to 300 mg). Dilute contents with water and give drink in the morning and in the evening. The preventive course lasts 5 to 7 days, the treatment course lasts 5 to 14 days.

For adults, the instruction for use recommends treating Enterol diarrhea for 3 to 7 days. Diarrhea that arose against the background of antibiotic therapy is treated with the same drug for a week (2 sachets 1 hour after breakfast and after dinner).

Children older than 3 years and adults are given 2 times a day for 1 or 2 capsules. It is necessary to swallow them, without chewing, whole. Often babies refuse to swallow a hard capsule. In this case, you can open the shell, mix the powder with water and give the child a drink. The course is from 5 to 14 days.

Enterol is not washed down with tea, compote, juice, coffee, alcohol, and is not dissolved in these drinks.

It is not recommended to take capsules or suspension with food or immediately after eating. You must skip one or two hours, and then drink the medicine.

During pregnancy and lactation

Bulardi's saccharomycetes act only inside the intestine, leave it naturally 3 to 5 days after taking Enterol. These microorganisms are not able to enter the bloodstream. Drugs with this property are usually considered safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women. The effect of saccharomycetes on these categories of patients has not been tested, because doctors prescribe an antidiarrheal agent during pregnancy, after weighing the pros and cons.

Drug interaction

Enterol can be drunk simultaneously with antibiotics and probiotics. It is forbidden to combine with antifungal agents. Saccharomycetes and candida are related organisms.Medicines against candida infection are harmful to beneficial fungi.

Enterol is not recommended to be taken simultaneously with preparations containing ethanol, since alcohol irritates the mucous membrane of the colon, therefore, diarrhea intensifies.

Researchers argue that it is difficult for strains of bifidobacteria, lactobacilli, and other probiotics to “take root” in the intestines that are “foreign” to the body. So there was a recommendation to take the appropriate drugs for a long time (2 months). Sugaromycetes Bulardi create favorable conditions for beneficial inhabitants of the intestinal microbiota. Thanks to Enterol, the probiotic course may be shorter.

Contraindications, side effects and overdose

Enterol should not be drunk if hypersensitivity to biomaterial and / or other components in the composition is diagnosed. The drug contains carbohydrates, so you should refrain from using the drug for patients with lactase deficiency, fructose intolerance, galactose.

The drug is not prescribed for patients who receive solutions of drugs and nutrients through a central venous catheter. In this case, the risk of developing generalized candidiasis increases. “Enterol” is excluded from the composition of therapy when prescribing high doses of corticosteroids, chemo-and radiation therapy.

Side effects:

  • allergic reactions in the form of a rash;
  • cramping and abdominal pain;
  • systemic candidiasis;
  • Quincke's edema;
  • anaphylaxis;
  • flatulence
  • constipation.

In case of an overdose, there is an increase in symptoms noted as side effects. The drug is canceled if any negative manifestations occur.

Analogs of Enterol

The remedy from the Biocodex company is the only drug in Russian pharmacies that contains Bulardi's saccharomycetes. Group analogues of Enterol with a similar mechanism of action, as well as substitutes, are more numerous.

Probiotics for the treatment of diarrhea, infections and intestinal dysbiosis:

  • "Symbiolact Plus";
  • "Normoflorin-D";
  • "Sporobacterin";
  • “Hilak forte;
  • "RioFlora;
  • "Eubicore;
  • Linex et al.

The most expensive and versatile probiotic is Symbiolact Plus. Much cheaper domestic drugs "Normoflorin-D", "Eubicor", prescribed for the same indications.

Enterofuril acts on the same groups of pathogens and opportunistic bacteria that are susceptible to S. Boulardii. Nifuroxazide as part of an antimicrobial agent does not upset the balance of intestinal microflora, and contributes to its restoration in case of dysbiosis.

A careful study of the properties and methods of application helps to find a solution to the problem, which is better than Enterol or Enterofuril. For most indicators, the second remedy is inferior to the first. Enterofuril is prescribed for diarrhea of bacterial etiology. The drug is not used to treat children under 3 years of age.

Enterol acts against pathogenic bacteria and other causes of diarrhea. The beneficial effect of the drug is to promote the formation of normal microflora and the treatment of intestinal inflammation. The product improves digestion and strengthens the immune system.
