Composition, release form and packaging
The main compound in the composition of De Nol is bismuth tripotassium dicitrate. Each tablet contains 120 mg. With its help, a protective film is formed on the affected area of the stomach, protecting this area from the effects of gastric juice.
This property allows you to accelerate the healing of tissues and prevent the formation of a rough scar. This effect of the drug helps to prevent exacerbation of diseases.
The medicine De-Nol additionally contains:
- corn polysaccharides of amylose and amylopectin;
- osmotic laxative (macrogol 6000);
- potassium polyacrylate;
- polyvinylpyrrolidone grade K30;
- hydroxypropyl methylcellulose;
- ammonium citrate;
- magnesium stearate.
The release form of the drug De-Nol - round convex tablets, covered with a film with a square and a figure with broken lines on both sides, 8, 32, 56 and 112 pieces in a blister.
The drug can be bought without a prescription. It should be stored out of the reach of children at a temperature of 15-25 degrees for no longer than 48 months.
Pharmacological actions and indications for use
De-Nol, although it has an antimicrobial effect, is not an antibiotic. And this means that all the side effects characteristic of such medicines are not inherent in him.
The medication affects the synthesis of prostaglandin E and increases the secretion of bicarbonate.
The bactericidal property of De-Nol allows it to destroy pathogens, including Helicobacter pylori. To date, not a single strain has been identified that can withstand bismuth subcitrate. In the absence of timely correct treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection, the disease becomes chronic, which can even provoke a patient’s disability.
Just 10 years ago, gastrointestinal diseases were in second place after acute respiratory infections. Moreover, the insidiousness of these pathologies is that at the beginning of their development they are almost asymptomatic.
The drug merges with bacteria, destroys their cell walls and leads to their death. Thus, it is possible to prevent the penetration of pathogens into the digestive system.
Bismuth subcitrate practically does not enter the body system from the digestive tract, excreted in feces and urine.
Due to its good solubility, the drug has the ability to penetrate into the very depths of mucus, killing even microorganisms under the mucous membrane. This property of the medication allows him to prevent the re-development of peptic ulcer.
Taking De-Nol tablets stimulates the protective mechanisms of cells, increasing their resistance to the negative effects of hydrochloric acid. Blood flow and fluid movement in the walls of the stomach and intestines increase. Against the background of such treatment, the activity of the pepsinogen proenzyme and pepsin enzyme decreases.
De-Nol is prescribed to patients with the following diseases:
- an ulcer of the stomach or duodenum;
- irritable bowel syndrome (IBS);
- gastroduodenitis;
- functional dyspepsia;
- pancreatitis
- gastritis (dystrophic-inflammatory changes in the gastric mucosa);
- gastropathy as a result of taking NPP.
Proper treatment, taking into account the dosage of the drug, will forget about the symptoms of these diseases of the stomach and intestines for a long time.
Instructions for use De-Nola
Instructions for use of the drug once again reminds the patient that the dosage and the tool itself should only be prescribed by a doctor. This is due to the fact that the grammar of the drug is influenced by various factors (age, body weight, pathology, tolerance of the components).
On average, the instructions for use are as follows:
- Children after 14 years of age and adults should take 1-2 tablets of De-Nol 2-4 times a day half an hour before meals. To improve tissue regeneration, a further intake of De Nol 1 tablet four times a day before meals for 6 weeks can be prescribed.
- The dosage of the drug varies depending on the individual characteristics of the patient as directed by the attending physician.
- Drink the medicine with a small amount of water. In no case do you need to crush, cut, or chew the medicine. In addition, you can only drink the pill with water (milk, juices, teas, coffee and other drinks are not suitable).
- Therapy lasts 1-2 months. After this time, bismuth-containing preparations should not enter the patient's body over the next two months.
- When undergoing treatment with De-Nol, it is forbidden to take any other drugs containing bismuth.
- It is forbidden to use the medicine after the expiration date indicated on the package.
During the use of De-Nol, the patient may experience black stools and a darkened tongue. Its effect on vehicle driving has not been identified.
With excessive accumulation of bismuth in the central nervous system, the patient may experience nausea, vomiting, and stool disorders. In the case of diseases associated with Helicobacter pylori, De-Nol is used in combination with other agents, increasing their effectiveness.
Important! While taking the drug, the use of any alcohol is prohibited.
During pregnancy and lactation
De-Nol is contraindicated in women during pregnancy and lactation. Therefore, while taking the drug, a nursing mother will have to completely stop breastfeeding.
Drug interaction
The effectiveness of the drug may decrease if it is taken concomitantly with drugs, liquid, antacids, dairy products, fruits, and other foods. Therefore, the optimal time for using De-Nol is half an hour before taking other medicines, food and drink, and also after 30 minutes from the time of eating. And the use of De-Nol together with tetracyclines reduces the effect of the latter.
Scientists conducted experiments on the effectiveness of eliminating Helicobacter pylori infection using De Nol (1), Furazolidone (2), Clarithromycin (3) and Amoxicillin (4). And here is what came of it:
- With a combination of 1, 2 and 4 funds taken twice a day in a certain dosage for a week, the effect of treatment is observed in 71% of cases.
- When combining 1, 3 and 4 drugs taken 2 times a day for a week, the effectiveness of treatment reaches a mark in 93% of cases.
Based on this study, it can be concluded that the combination of De-Nol, Clarithromycin and Amoxicillin in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection is very appropriate. Moreover, the cost of such therapy is not too high.
Contraindications, side effects and overdose
The use of De Nol is not allowed to every person with diseases of the stomach and duodenum. It is contraindicated in the following factors:
- negative reaction to the components of the drug or resistance to them;
- gestation and during breastfeeding;
- decompensated renal failure;
- problems in the functioning of the liver;
- below 14 years old.
When using the drug within the acceptable dosage, the patient may experience adverse reactions in the form of nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea. These consequences of taking De-Nol are not dangerous for humans, but should be announced to the attending physician. In rare cases, the patient has an anaphylactic reaction of the immune system.
Sometimes patients have signs of hypersensitivity, expressed in skin rashes or itching. A long-term medication often provokes the development of encephalopathy as a result of the accumulation of bismuth in the central nervous system.
An overdose in taking De-Nol can be considered a prolonged period of use of the drug in high dosages. As a result of such behavior, malfunctions in the digestive system and kidneys (an increase in the concentration of bismuth in the blood) can be observed. The patient is urgently prescribed gastric lavage, an adsorbent together with a saline laxative. After providing this medical care to the victim, treatment is carried out aimed at eliminating unpleasant symptoms. The functions of the internal organs as a result of therapy can be completely restored. The exception is only a consequence of the regular use of the medication. From an overdose on the dermis and mucosa, rashes, dark bands on the gums and inflammation can be observed.
When the bismuth content in the plasma is higher than normal, chelating agents are administered to the patient. And in case of renal dysfunction, extrarenal blood purification (hemodialysis) is prescribed.
