Since the lifestyle and diet of most people do not contribute to the good functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, almost one in three is faced with symptoms of illnesses such as ulcers and gastritis. Fortunately, there are drugs that can affect the origins of the disease. One of them is De Nol. This medicine stops the erosive processes of the walls of the stomach and inhibits the growth of harmful microflora. But before you start using the drug, you must study the instructions for use of De-Nol.

Composition, release form and packaging

The active component of the drug is bismuth tripotassium dicitrate, in the conversion to bismuth oxide is 0.12 g. Additional components include starch, povidone, macrogol, sodium polyacrylate, magnesium stearate, etc.

The drug is a round tablet in a white or cream shell, convex on both sides. In order to prevent fraud, on each dragee there is a text print in the form of the inscription "gbr152", and on the back there is an embossed pattern (a square with torn sides and rounded corners). Usually the medicine does not have a pronounced aroma, but after opening the package, the smell of ammonia may be present.

Tablets are packaged in silver blisters with a tear line in the middle. Each has 8 tablets. In a cardboard package can be 4, 7 or 14 blisters plus instructions.

Pharmacological actions and indications for use

De-Nol is an anti-ulcer drug with pronounced bactericidal activity regarding Helicobacter pylori.

It also has an astringent and antiflogistic effect. When it enters the gastric environment, a decomposition reaction occurs with the formation of protein compounds. After that, an insoluble film is created at the site of damage, which promotes tissue regeneration.

The drug also enhances the production of prostaglandin, due to which a greater amount of mucus is secreted and the activity of some digestive enzymes, in particular pepsin, is suppressed.

Bismuth-based products (the drug itself and De-Nol analogues) help strengthen the cytoprotective mechanisms of the gastrointestinal surface membrane, increase mucus production, and make the stomach epithelial layer more resistant to enzymes and hydrochloric acid.

The medication is prescribed for diagnoses:

  • gastric and / or duodenal ulcer in remission or exacerbation;
  • irritable bowel syndrome;
  • gastritis and / or gastroduodenitis in acute or chronic form;
  • difficult digestion, i.e. functional dyspepsia without an organic nature;
  • damage to the mucous membrane and walls of the stomach after taking NSAIDs (ibuprofen, acetylsalicylic acid, etc.).

What helps De Nol

A bacterium of the Helicobacter species is the main source of erosive processes. Because of their spiral shape, they attach to the walls of the stomach and parasitize, releasing toxins that can dissolve the protective secretion on the surface of the gastrointestinal tract. As a result, food enzymes and acids can freely penetrate unprotected tissues, irritating and corroding them.

The action of bismuth is aimed at the destruction of the shell of harmful microorganisms, inhibiting their vital functions and preventing fixation in tissues. At the same time, the drug interacts with water, forming a colloid, which penetrates the walls of the gastric mucosa and envelops the damaged areas. The drug also has an effect on the gastrointestinal receptors, provoking the secretion of mucus and reducing the activity of gastric juice.

Thus, optimal conditions are created for suppressing the pathogen, stopping inflammation and starting regenerative (restoring) processes, by increasing the number of new cells and increasing their resistance to adverse factors.

The advantages of De Nol include the fact that the components of the drug do not interfere with or disrupt the digestive process. Even after a long treatment and drug withdrawal, bacteria do not develop resistance to the active substance. This allows you to take it for preventive purposes, preventing relapses and seasonal exacerbations.

Instructions for the use of antiulcer drug

De Nol tablets are prescribed after a comprehensive examination and identification of the cause of the disease. Often, a special test is required for the presence of Helicobacter bacteria in the stomach. Only after confirmation of the data can the gastroenterologist prescribe adequate treatment.

The fact is that the drug itself cannot be called a panacea. It is used as part of adjuvant therapy or as a prophylactic to prevent relapse of gastrointestinal diseases.

Therefore, if the doctor has not indicated an individual treatment regimen, De-Nol should be taken as follows:

  1. Children from 4 to 7 years old are prescribed a dosage of 8 mg / 1 kg of body weight.
  2. In persons 8-12 years old, the optimal dosage is 240 mg, which is equivalent to two tablets, which must be divided into 2 doses.
  3. Adolescents over 12 years old and adults should take 480 mg per day. Different treatment regimens are allowed: 2 tablets in the morning and in the evening or 1 tablet 3 times a day before each meal, and a fourth tablet one hour before bedtime.

Dragees are swallowed whole, washed down with water. All pills for stomach ulcers are recommended to be taken 30-40 minutes before meals or 2 hours after.During therapy, it is worthwhile to refrain from consuming milk and products based on it, because organic acids and salts inhibit the effect of bismuth.

The course of treatment is from 28 to 56 days. To influence Helicobacter, it is advisable to combine tablets with the use of antibacterial drugs such as Metronidazole, Amoxicillin or Tetracycline.

Drug Interactions and Alcohol Compatibility

For half an hour before and after taking the medicine, it is recommended to refrain from eating any food, drink or other medication. This is especially true for antacids, milk, sour fruits, vegetables, juices and soda. This is due to a decrease in the action of the active substance and its removal from the body in an unchanged form.

Nevertheless, it is possible to use other medications (2 hours after De-Nol) that inhibit the growth and development of Helicobacter bacteria, which promote tissue healing. However, other medicines should not contain bismuth salts in order to avoid exceeding the daily burrow.

During the treatment period, you should refrain from alcohol and alcohol-containing products due to the increased load on the liver and kidneys, as well as the likelihood of reversible organic damage to these organs.

Contraindications, side effects and overdose

Do not prescribe the drug in such conditions:

  • pregnancy and lactation, due to unexplored effects on the baby and the risk of the substance entering the breast milk;
  • severe renal dysfunction;
  • private intolerance to the drug or its individual components;
  • Patient under 4 years old.

It is worth noting that at the beginning of the reception, side symptoms may occur. Among them are nausea, bloating, discoloration of natural secretions, loss of appetite, diarrhea, or constipation.

All these symptoms are associated with the adaptation of the body and usually disappear within the first two weeks without any intervention. If they do not cause severe discomfort, then there is no reason for concern and seeking medical attention.

Much less often, patients experience skin allergies, accompanied by redness, rashes, and itching. In this case, the decision on the further administration of the drug is discussed with the gastroenterologist.

With prolonged use (over 2 months) or exceeding daily doses, the drug can inhibit the central nervous system. Because of this, the risk of nephropathy, encephalopathy, gingivitis, arthralgia, pseudomembranous colitis increases.

If you suspect an overdose, you should immediately stop taking the medicine. To relieve the symptoms, gastric lavage is prescribed, and after that - symptomatic therapy.

Analogs of De Nola

The main drawback of popular drugs is the overpriced. However, in Russia and abroad, analogues are produced cheaper than De-Nola several times, not inferior in their effectiveness to the more famous "brother".

Popular medicines with the same active ingredient:

  • Novobismol is a Russian antiulcer drug with a binding, bactericidal and enveloping effect. This is one of the few generics that effectively inhibits the growth and activity of Helicobacter bacteria. The only negative is that the medicine is dispensed according to the prescription, which is associated with the aggressive effect of bismuth on the body due to the absence of emollients in the composition.
  • Ulkavis is a Slovenian counterpart, has all the properties of a Dutch remedy, but costs half the price.
  • Ventrisol is a high-quality Polish bismuth-based gastroprotective agent. It is not sold in every pharmacy, but its price is fully consistent with quality.
  • Vis-nol is a Ukrainian drug that activates the production of mucus and promotes early scarring of ulcers. It is available in capsules of 100 pcs. in packaging, which is much more convenient and economical.
  • Gastro-norm is not the cheapest analogue, but, like other drugs, acts selectively.In places where the integrity of the epithelial layer is impaired, it forms a film that stops the inflammatory process and enhances regeneration.
  • Escape is a Russian analogue based on bismuth. It reduces acidity and fights the Helicobacter bacterium.

Among drugs that are similar in effect to the body, it is worth highlighting:

  • Venter - Slovenian medication based on sucralfate. It can be used to prevent inflammation in the digestive tract, even during pregnancy and lactation (after prior consultation with a doctor).
  • Misoprostol is a synthetic similarity to organic prostaglandins. Its action is aimed at reducing the production of gastric juice and increasing secretion of mucus.
  • Vicalin is a domestic bismuth-based product. In addition to astringent and enveloping action, it has a slight analgesic effect.

Before the discovery of the bacterial cause of erosive processes in the gastrointestinal tract, diseases such as gastritis and ulcers practically did not respond to treatment. Now, in addition to the popular De Nol, a lot of drugs are sold in pharmacies that affect the source of ailments. True, for a complete cure, you will have to resort to complex therapy, including adherence to diet and the use of antibiotics.
