Forms of release and composition of the drug
Depending on the patient’s current condition and complaints, the doctor may prescribe one of three forms of the drug, each of which has its own characteristics.
- Pills. Means for systemic exposure to the patient's body. Absorption of the active component of the drug will occur from the stomach and small intestine.
- Injections. The solution format is for injection. This is the fastest way to deliver the active ingredient into the bloodstream.
- Ointment. This option is often used as an addition to Arthrosan injections or tablets with the same composition. The substance works at the local level, enters the bloodstream in small quantities, practically does not provoke the development of side effects.
The active component of the medication is always the same. This is meloxicam, which will provide a therapeutic effect. The composition of the drug also includes other components that form its basis. These are water, glycine, chloride and sodium hydroxide - for solution, as well as silicon dioxide, starch and sodium citrate - for tablets.
Pharmacological action and pharmacodynamics
The effect of using the drug may be different. The instructions indicate that the medicine:
- quickly relieves inflammation;
- normalizes body temperature (including eliminates a local temperature increase in the inflamed area);
- helps to cope with pain.
All of this can be achieved with proper medication. Meloxicam, which is part of the composition, inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins, as well as cyclooxygenase, an enzyme necessary for the production of arachidonic acid. This leads to inhibition of acute inflammatory processes.
In addition, the tool reduces the activity of mediators with ongoing inflammation and reduces the permeability of the walls of blood vessels. This leads to inhibition of chemical reactions in which free radicals participate. Further, the effect of prostaglandins on the nerve endings is terminated, which is the reason for the relief of pain.
The drug "Arthrosan" has a cumulative effect. Its maximum concentration is observed 4 to 5 days after the start of treatment.
In blood, the active substance binds to plasma proteins. The spent product is metabolized due to liver tissue, and is excreted from the body along with the main vital products - urine and feces.
What helps Arthrosan
The medication is recommended for patients who suffer from joint diseases of an inflammatory nature.
The list of main indications for use includes:
- radiculitis;
- spondylitis;
- osteochondrosis;
- osteoarthrosis;
- arthritis.
Also, it is appropriate to use with myositis, accompanied by sharp painful sensations.
Instructions for use of the drug
Each of the forms of release has its own nuances of use.
Pills
Arthrosan tablets are taken orally, and the drug is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. They drink dragees once a day in parallel with eating. Dosage is determined by the severity of symptoms and ranges from 7.5 to 15 mg.
Injections
With intense painful sensations that are almost unbearable to endure, injections are prescribed. The solution is injected as deep as possible into the tissue once a day. I start therapy with a minimum dose of 7.5 mg, gradually increasing it to 15 mg.
Ointment
In some cases, it is appropriate to use the ointment "Arthrosan". It has a gel texture and is applied to the skin in the area of the affected joint with a thin layer. For one procedure, take 2 to 4 grams of the product and rub it gently. The total duration of the course can vary from one to two weeks.
During pregnancy and lactation
When carrying a baby and breastfeeding, it is better to refuse to use the product. There is a high risk of negative effects of the drug on the body of the child or fetus in the womb. In rare cases, in case of emergency, the doctor may prescribe an ointment, but more often, specialists prefer to choose safer analogues.
Drug interaction
When using meloxicam-based drugs, it is worth considering whether this substance will interact with other medicines.
Doctors give a number of unsuccessful combinations:
- With caution, “Arthrosan” is used in combination with vitamin K antagonists. With this combination, the risk of bleeding increases.
- You should not drink “Arthrosan”, “Cyclosporin” and any diuretics at the same time, since in this situation the development of renal failure is possible.
- At the same time taking with medications that lower blood pressure, the effectiveness of both drugs decreases.
Important. Doctors warn that it is better to take only one anti-inflammatory drug, without combining Arthrosan with other drugs from the NSAID group.

You can not use the drug in all cases. All contraindications are indicated in the annotation to the drug.
This list includes:
- individual intolerance;

Analogs of Arthrosan
The drug is often prescribed for adult patients with joint problems. However, in some cases, it can be replaced by analogues that will work according to a similar scheme.
- "Meloxicam." The name of the drug was given by the main active substance, which is part of the composition. The medication is produced by various domestic and foreign companies. There are three forms - tablets, solution for injections, suppositories. All of them work according to the same scheme, which is completely identical to that of Arthrosan. The lists of indications and contraindications for the funds are the same.
- "Melbek." This is the Turkish counterpart to the medicines described above. The active ingredient is meloxicam, which suppresses the active synthesis of prostaglandins. The medication is available in two variations. These are tablets (7.5 or 15 mg) and a solution in ampoules, used for intramuscular injections.
- Movalis. This is a whole line of medications with meloxicam in the composition. The medicine is produced in factories in Spain, Italy, Germany. Four options are presented at once: ampoules with a solution, tablets, suppositories, suspension. The mechanism of action is single. The formation of prostaglandins is inhibited, cyclooxygenase is inhibited, which is why inflammation in the tissues subsides. Note: this drug is prescribed in childhood for the treatment of juvenile arthritis. In this case, the medication can be given to children from two years old under standard restrictions, from 12 years old - for suspension and suppositories, from 16 years old - for tablets and 18 years old - for injections.
- "Lem." Another non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent. The composition includes meloxicam, as well as a number of auxiliary components. This is a Russian drug produced in one form - tablets for oral administration. A medication is prescribed from 15 years.
- Movasin. A drug made in Russia, designed to combat various pathologies of the joints - ankylosing spondylitis, arthritis, osteochondrosis. The main compound remains the same - it is meloxicam, which accumulates in the tissues and inhibits inflammatory processes. Tablets are allowed for patients from 12 years old, and injections are given only to adult patients.
- Mesipol. This is a powerful Polish analgesic and anti-inflammatory. The active substance (meloxicam) is injected into the body via intramuscular injection. For children, pregnant and lactating women, this remedy is not prescribed.
- Mirlox. Polish tablets with meloxicam in the composition. The substance blocks the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which initiates the formation of prostaglandins. As a result, the inflammation subsides, and the patient notes an improvement in well-being. You can take pills from 12 years old.
"Arthrosan" and all its closest analogues are effective drugs for inflammatory joint diseases. Positive results are observed in all patients who strictly follow the instructions. This medication does not just relieve pain or drowns it.An active chemical compound affects the cause of the disease, therefore, after the withdrawal of the drug, attacks do not return.
